Digitalization and UX optimization
Stegoplast is a Swedish manufacturing company specializing in plastic processing. The company implemented Microsoft BC 365 to digitalize its operations. However, production staff faced challenges in navigating the system and efficiently reporting their work progress. Our team was tasked with designing a complementary digital solution to enhance usability, efficiency, and accessibility within the production workflow.
Through a user-centered design approach, we developed an interactive prototype that streamlined reporting, improved information access, and reduced reliance on manual processes. The result was a more intuitive and user-friendly interface, tailored to the needs of Stegoplast’s employees.
My role and contributions
In this project, I was primarily responsible for designing the interactive prototype and ensuring that the user interface (UI) was intuitive, accessible, and aligned with user needs. I played a key role in the visual design, UX research, and iterative testing, ensuring that the final prototype effectively improved Stegoplast’s production processes.
I was involved in all stages of the UX process, from user research and conceptualization to wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing. Additionally, I facilitated communication between the team and stakeholders, helping to bridge the gap between business goals and user needs.
Process and UX methods
Research and understanding user needs
To create an effective solution, we needed a deep understanding of Stegoplast’s current workflow, challenges, and user pain points. My contributions included:
Workshop session
Planned and conducted a Future Workshop to explore user needs and generate design insights.

Three stages of the Future workshop
User observations and interviews
Conducted observations and semi-structured interviews with production staff to analyze their existing processes and struggles with digital tools.
Mapped out user workflows and identified inefficiencies in manual reporting and information retrieval.
Visualizing the current system
Created a workflow diagram to illustrate how information was currently managed. This helped both our team and the stakeholders understand pain points and areas for improvement.

Personas and user needs analysis
Defined two key personas representing the primary users (production staff) and secondary users (management).
Outlined their goals, frustrations, and needs, ensuring a user-centered approach throughout the design process.
UX and UI Design
With research insights in place, I led the design efforts, ensuring a functional and visually appealing UI that aligned with user workflows.
Wireframing & UI structure
Designed low-fidelity wireframes to map out user flows and core functionalities.
Ensured that navigation was intuitive, minimizing cognitive load for production staff with little technical experience.
Designing the interactive prototype
Translated wireframes into a high-fidelity interactive prototype in Figma.
Focused on a clean, structured layout, making it easy for users to report work progress and access key information quickly.
Visual identity and consistency
Developed a cohesive design system inspired by Stegoplast’s branding (colors, typography, UI elements).
Ensured visual hierarchy and contrast for improved readability and accessibility.

User testing & iteration
We conducted usability testing to ensure that our design met user needs effectively.
Internal user testing
Observed how test users interacted with the prototype, noting pain points and friction in navigation.
Collected qualitative feedback on layout, button placement, and clarity of information.
Iterative improvements based on feedback
Adjusted information hierarchy to ensure production workers could quickly access relevant data.
Improved interaction flows, making reporting tasks more seamless.
Enhanced contrast and font sizes for better accessibility.
Key takeaways and learnings
Stakeholder communication
Working with a real company taught me how to adapt to client expectations, handle delays, and present design decisions effectively.
Prioritization & scope management
Learned how to scale down ideas to focus on core functionalities, ensuring a usable and efficient solution within time constraints.
Strengthening my UI/UX skills
This project allowed me to refine my ability to design user-friendly interfaces for non-technical users while maintaining a structured, research-driven design process.
This experience strengthened my ability to merge UX research, UI design, and usability testing into a seamless digital experience, and I'm proud of how we optimized a complex system into a user-friendly solution.
